Gandhi Jayanthi 2019
"You must be the change you wish to see in the world"
Mahatma Gandhi
G.C.T.E Trivandrum celebrated the birthday of the father of our nation, Mahatma Gandhi, by keeping true to the great man's dream of a clean India. Gandhi once said that sanitation is more important than freedom. Whether the statement is true or not, the fact lies that sanitation is the key factor to a progressive and developed society. Despite 73 years of freedom, India is still far away from achieving Bapu's dream of a better homeland for his people. It is easy to point fingers on who is to blame for this, but what each proud Indian citizen needs to realize is that the fault lies not with the stars but with themselves.
The students of G.C.T.E took this day as a chance to set an example to the society by taking part in campus cleaning. The student teachers were divided to teams and allotted areas to clean. Some of us, including myself took it upon ourselves to prepare a simple meal for all the students and faculty members. There was no distinction between a teacher and a student in this venture as all joined hands to participate in making our college a clean college.
