An Environmental Journey...

 

The end of 2019 saw the literal burning of the Amazon Rainforest and the onset of the Australian bushfires. 2020 begins with the COVID-19 pandemic. If man set Nature on fire in 2019, in 2020 Nature is setting fire on mankind. Revenge these days, it seems, is not served cold. The Hammurabi law has been followed to the dot.

The Gaia Hypothesis holds that Earth is a self-regulating system, with parts, including living parts, together making the planet hospitable and habitable. However, its propounder James Lovelock worries that maybe it is too late now. The only thing we can do now is to prepare for the coming horrors of a dangerously inhospitable climate. Man has been advancing in the field of science and technology with the single aim of ‘making the world a better, more comfortable place to live’. But on this quest for comfort, have we left behind our Conscience? Have we forgotten that we are simply shareholders with others on this planet?
