An Environmental Journey...

  The end of 2019 saw the literal burning of the Amazon Rainforest and the onset of the Australian bushfires. 2020 begins with the COVID-19 pandemic. If man set Nature on fire in 2019, in 2020 Nature is setting fire on mankind. Revenge these days, it seems, is not served cold. The Hammurabi law has been followed to the dot. The Gaia Hypothesis holds that Earth is a self-regulating system, with parts, including living parts, together making the planet hospitable and habitable. However, its propounder James Lovelock worries that maybe it is too late now. The only thing we can do now is to prepare for the coming horrors of a dangerously inhospitable climate. Man has been advancing in the field of science and technology with the single aim of ‘making the world a better, more comfortable place to live’. Womens' Day 2020

  Here’s to strong women: may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them.     Every year, March 8 is celebrated as International Day for Women. G.C.T.E however, held the celebrations earlier on March 6, 2020. It was the last offline maskless 'normal' programme for us. The very next week came the lockdown and now we are living in fear of what's next. The Women's Cell organized the programme in a two-fold manner. In the first session, we had a cancer awareness programme by 2 doctors from Gigi Hospital. In the second session, our senior, and transgender activist, Ms. Shyama spoke about womanhood as a whole. As part of the celebrations, I went around collecting opinions from students and faculty on what or who a 'woman' is. A compiled video on the topic was shown at the programme.
